Soil testing is a critical operation to the success of your crops and yard. Soil tests should be conducted every four or five years for lawns and landscapes. Garden soil testing depends on how many crops you plant in a year. If you plant spring and fall crops testing should be done every two years. A spring, fall, and winter planting should test yearly. Bring your soil test in, or have us test it for you. Standley Feed will use your soil test to formulate and advise the best fertilizer blend for your crop or lawn.
Dry Fertilizer: Standley Feed specializes in custom dry fertilizer blends. We recommend starting with a soil sample. Bring your soil test results in, or have us test it. Soil testing is a critical component of your home or commercial operation whether you are growing tomatoes in your backyard or thousands of acres of wheat, hay or another crop. When farmers have access to custom blended granular fertilizer, they can fine-tune their crop fertility program and potentially improve crop production.
In addition to recommending nutrient additives, a good soil test can identify problems such as pH balance and micronutrient imbalances. Standley Feed will use your soil test results to formulate and advise the best fertilizer blend for your crop.
We also offer buggy rental so you can apply dry fertilizer yourself.
Liquid Fertilizer is essential to building and keeping a healthy strand of grass. Pastures, hay meadows and lawns have a high need for nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium; and without proper nutrients, they will begin to thin. At Standley Feed we have the right fertilizers and equipment to meet your grass production needs.
One of the advantages of liquid fertilizer is the ability to apply weed control to the pasture at the same time as fertilizer. Our operators are fully licensed to apply the herbicide or insecticide of your choice when needed.
Standley Feed and Seed carries a Liquid 32 or 32-0-0 Liquid form. This fertilizer is currently at our Normangee Store and is available to be spread with a terragator. We can service from any of our locations in Normangee, Iola, and Madisonville.
This fertilizer is composed of about 50% Urea and 50% Ammonium Nitrate. The UAN 32% Solution is available in Ammoniac, Nitrate and Urea. One-fourth is Ammoniac, one-fourth is Nitrate and one-half is Urea. It weighs 11.08 lbs. per gallon, has a pH of approximately 7, and has negligible vapor pressure. Each gallon contains 3.55 lbs of Nitrogen. This solution can also be called Uran, Solution 32, and 32% Solution.
UAN 32% can be used on just about all crops. It is widely used for side dressing cotton, vegetables, corn, beets, and other crops. For more information please call us at (936) 396-6641.

Bag Fertilizer: Standley Feed offers a variety of bag fertilizers and soil amendments for growing beautiful lawns and gardens. Fertilizer applied to the lawn encourages thicker turf growth and a greener lawn. For best results, apply fertilizers in the spring and fall.
You do need to apply nitrogen (the first number in fertilizer) a couple of times a year. Nitrogen and water are two of the three elements that make the grass grow (the third being sunlight). Too little of both and the lawn looks depressed, too much of either can wash off along with your money.
Fertilizer bags list three numbers (such as 16-4-8). Those numbers—the fertilizer analysis—show the percentage by weight of nitrogen, phosphorus (expressed as available phosphoric acid, or P205) and potassium (expressed as soluble potash, or K20) in the fertilizer.
