December Garden Tips

PotatoesInDirtWant some color in your flower beds? Try dianthus or pansies!  They’ll brighten you day! Stop in and pick up some color for your beds.

Time to start thinking about getting your garden areas ready for potatoes and onions.  Pre-emergent weed control products such as Preen need to be applied soon.  The good ole tiller also helps control winter weeds as well as helping the ground “mellow” with the cooler temperatures.

Plan carefully before planting fruit or shade trees.  Too often we plant too close together or too close to structures.  This leads to continual trimming to decrease the chance of injury to the trees or to buildings.  Pecan, fruit, and shade trees, berries, and grape vines should be arriving at the store the middle of December.

Happy planting
